HYANNIS – The Old Colony League champion Barnstable High boys’ track and field team (5-0) defeated the visiting Sturgis East/West squad Tuesday afternoon, to the tune of a 127-8 landslide.
Under heavy winds, Barnstable’s Orlando Henry posted a trio of season best performances with a second place in the 400m hurdles (67.1), a win in the 110m hurdles (19.00) and a third place finish in the high jump with a jump of 5’0”.
Red Raider sophomore Chris Fawcett continued his stellar season with two second place finishes in the Long Jump (19’4.5″/personal best) and the 100m race (12.28). Fawcett was also the lead runner on Barnstable’s 4×100 relay team (46.32/1st place), a quartet that included sophomore Sean Dumais and seniors Malique Dickerson-Pells and Jedidiah Cadet.
Red Raider sophomore Will Cooke brought home victories for the Red Raiders in the 200 meter run with a time of 24.67 and in the high jump with a jump of 5’2″. Junior Casey Connor continued to impress with a win in the 2-mile (10:58) and a second place finish in the mile (5:06).
Sophomore Lucas Lanzo secured a win in the 400 meters in a time of 56.51 and was also a member of the winning 4×400 relay team (3:54.4) with juniors Tim DeCosta and Ryan Chevalier and senior Chris Lovett. Lovett also won the 800 meters in 2:12.
Other notable performances included personal bests in the javelin from Matthew Fredo (99’4″), Calvin Dulak (95’0″), Jack Fredo (82’3″), Trevor Saunders (72’10”) and Zach Tivey (72’6″).
Barnstable travels to Bridgewater State University next Tuesday, May 19th to compete in the Old Colony League Championship meet.
