HARWICH — With the fall high school golf season set to go into full swing Tuesday afternoon across the Cape, 2015 Mass. Bay League champion and Monomoy Regional senior Jen Keim may already be counting the days until she graduates.
Keim, who was unbeaten during the regular season in her sophomore and junior campaigns (14-0 in 2014 and 13-0-1 in 2015), recently gave her verbal commitment to attend Division 1 Florida Atlantic University in the fall of 2016, just 10 weeks after she fired an 84 at sectionals, an 81 in the Massachusetts State Championship and a 77 at New Englands in June.
The Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic golfer led the Monomoy girls’ golf team last spring to a 10-4 mark and defeated the entire Mass. Bay League field for the individual title by four strokes before she qualified for the state finals at Brookside and then shot an 81 at the MIAA Girls’ Golf State Final in June at Wentworth Hills in Plainville. She took 5th place in the state final and went on to shoot a 77 in the New England championship.
Keim hails from South Yarmouth and in 2014 was crowned champion of the 75th annual Boston CYO Golf Tournament, the oldest junior golf tournament in New England, held at Ponkapoag Golf Course in Canton.
