All MIAA State Championship Semifinal Games Postponed to Tomorrow

LEXINGTON – The MIAA Division 1 Boys’ Tennis and Division 3 Girls’ Tennis state semifnals, as well as the Division 4 baseball state semifinals, were all postponed earlier today due to the threat of severe weather.

The St. John Paul II baseball team – Div. 4 South Sectional and Cape & Islands League champions at 23-1 – was set to face Div. 4 North Sectional champion Georgetown (14-8) this afternoon at 4:00 pm at Fraser Field in Lynn, but that was moved to tomorrow, Wednesday, June 17.

The Lions are vying for their second straight Division 4 state championship title and have won three straight south sectional titles.

The still undefeated Div. 3 South Sectional champion Martha’s Vineyard girls’ tennis team (20-0) was set to face undefeated North Sectional champion Lynnfield (20-0) at Lexington High School at 3:30 pm and that has been moved to tomorrow at the same time and locale.

Same goes for the 20-1 Div. 1 South Sectional champion Barnstable High boys’ tennis team that was ready to face Div. 1 North Sectional Champion Acton-Boxborough Regional High School (19-0) at Lexington. The Red Raiders are looking for their first-ever Division 1 State Championship crown.

All of the state’s baseball, softball and tennis games/matches were postponed today.
