Barnstable Boys’ Tennis, Nauset Girls, Both Remain Unbeaten

HYANNIS – Red Raider senior co-captain Sonny Bisazza suffered a rare defeat at the hands of Old Rochester Regional High freshman Owen Sughrue, but Barnstable combined remaining efforts for a 4-1 non-league victory at home Wednesday afternoon.

Bisazza defeated Sughrue in the first set , 6-4, but dropped the ensuing set, 6-1, en route to the loss in number one singles.

Barnstable’s number two singles player Tyler Shibles defeated sophomore Alex Bilodeau, 6-1, 6-0 and number three singles man Max Francis helped keep things afloat by blanking Sam Pasquill, 6-0, 6-0.

Barnstable’s formidable doubles teams also held their own, with Daniel Dettinger-Klemm and Cooper Hesse defeating Maxx Wolski and Josh Lerman, 6-0, 6-1, followed by a 6-1, 6-0 win from Cooper Blaze and Donnie Brodd over Stero Burke and Jahn Pothier.

The Red Raiders are now 4-0 on the season and face Dartmouth on the road today at 4:00 pm.

Nauset Warriors Win Third Straight Over D-Y Dolphins

The Nauset Regional High girls’ tennis team took its third straight win Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins, 5-0, in South Yarmouth. The match was an Atlantic Coast League tilt for both teams.

Number one singles player Allie Dadoly defeated Tess Ciarcia, 6-1, 6-3, followed by a true battle in the number two singles match-up between Dadoly’s sister Nika Dadoly and D-Y’s Laryssa DuMont.

DuMont defeated Nika Dadoly, 7-6, then fell 6-2 and 10-4 in a tiebreaker.

Nauset’s  number three singles player Haley Navarro defeated Olivia VanLare, 6-1, 6-0, for the Warrior singles sweep.

In doubles action, Nauset’s Anna Godshalk and Haley Benz beat the Dolphins’ Virginia and Victoria Liu, 6-2, 6-0. Taylor Wilkins and Carlisle Wheeler rounded it off by defeating D-Y’s Rebecca Khachikian and Anna Bach, 6-1, 6-3.

Nauset is now 3-0. Dennis-Yarmouth is 0-2.
