SOUTH YARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Rotary Club has named Gerald “Curly” Carey as it’s new president.
Carey was installed by previous president Janice Thacyk, who shared stories of Carey’s commitment to the community during a ceremony at the Old Yarmouth Inn in Yarmouth Port.
As part of the ceremony, Stephen Albright, also former president and incoming District Governor, swore in the remaining new officers and board members.
Stephen and his wife, Jill Albright, were named the Rotarians of the Year award for their commitment to the club’s ideals.
Mike Riley, another former president, was present as the master of ceremonies.
At the event, outgoing President Kevin Lennon listed some of the clubs accomplished projects, including a new tennis court and practice area at the Dennis Yarmouth High School, a Christmas party for 30 families with presents for each child, $10,000 worth of donations through the club’s Good Works Fund, and $24,000 in scholarships for graduating seniors.
