West Nile Transmission Risk Raised

HYANNIS – The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is raising the risk level for transmission of West Nile virus from low to moderate in five Cape Cod towns.

They are Falmouth, Mashpee, Barnstable, Yarmouth and Dennis.

West Nile virus was recently detected in multiple mosquito samples from Falmouth and one in Dennis

MONDAY UPDATE: The Town of Yarmouth announced today mosquito samples were taken that were West Nile-positive. Also today, the state announced the second human case of West Nile. The case was from Middlesex County.
