HARWICH – The Harwich Water Department will begin flushing water mains throughout the community Monday, October 7.
Flushing will take place Monday through Thursday from 6 to 11 p.m. in the areas of East Harwich and South Harwich through December, weather permitting.
Signs will be posted notifying residents of flushing areas.
The Department also recommends residents set aside clean water for drinking and cooking in case of discoloration.
Temporary discoloration and a chlorine taste is expected during the flushing period.
Officials also advise residents check to make sure water is clear prior to doing laundry.
