YARMOUTH – Repairs are now planned for a deteriorating revetment at Bass River Beach in Yarmouth after a state grant was awarded for the project.
The town will receive $77,500 for the repairs to the wall, which protects the beach, parking area, boat ramp, fishing pier, and the dune system at the beach.
“Bass River Beach is one of the most picturesque and active waterfront properties that provides diverse public access opportunities to resident and visitors alike,” said Karl Von Hone, the Director of the Division of Natural Resources in Yarmouth. “We are very pleased to receive state support to conduct design and permitting of this important project to repair and upgrade the revetment wall.”
The funding was secured by Brewster State Rep. Tim Whelan.
“The Town of Yarmouth is one of the jewels of the Cape and Islands and these funds will help local officials as we wrestle with the effects of coastal erosion on the Bass River,” Whelan said.
