BARNSTABLE – The country’s best collegiate baseball players return to Cape Cod two weeks from today with the start of the Cape Cod Baseball League season.
The league has long been a draw for visitors and residents alike, with attendance at Cape League games often reaching the thousands. “We get so many fans here that actually plan their summer vacations around Cape League games. We’re hoping for a great summer of good weather,” said John Garner, the league’s Public Relations and Broadcasting Director.
The Cape League has hundreds of alumni in the major leagues.
The league is also expanding a partnership with Gosnold this year to provide drug education to local youth. The program is called “Playing Above the Influence” and will be held in three towns.
“The real benefit of the day is the children and the youngsters and the teenagers are invited to a fun day of activities. Gosnold has really put together an incredible program,” said League President Judy Walden-Scarafile
The program will be put in Bourne, Falmouth, and Orleans.
