SANDWICH – The two-story, 6,230 square foot expansion and 12,800 square foot renovation project at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital is complete.
The 10-month project added more space for team and family meetings, created a community gym space and improved accessibility, according to Vice President of hospital operations Stephanie Nadolny.
“We added new private treatment rooms, two physician exam rooms,” she said. “It really afforded us a lot of space for additional treatment and broadened our offerings to the community.”
Nadolny said that none of the facility’s operations were affected during the construction phase.
It is estimated that the work expands Spaulding’s physician services clinic by 33 percent and will allow the outpatient capacity to grow by 21,000 more visits each year.
The 21-year-old facility needed updates, Nadolny said.
“Being a rehab hospital, we are very concerned with peoples’ ability to access our services,” she said.
The work was completed by Margulies Perruzzi Architects out of Boston.
Spaulding is Cape Cod’s only rehabilitation hospital which provides care to help patients transition to the home following illness, injury or surgery.
