NEW BEDFORD – Southcoast Health has eliminated the paramedic position at its urgent care locations.

Officials say the decision was due to state regulations that limited the scope of practice for paramedics working in urgent care centers.

The transition process began over a year ago. Southcoast had ten paramedics remaining.

The hospital group said they’ll do everything they can to support the laid-off workers.
