Social Media Campaign Launches to Support Cape Cod Law Enforcement

YARMOUTH – A social media campaign has launched on Cape Cod aiming to show support for local law enforcement.

The #TurnCapeCodBlue effort calls on residents to place blue-colored items outside their homes, on their cars, or wear blue apparel.

The campaign comes in response to the fatal shooting of Yarmouth police officer Sean Gannon on Thursday while Gannon was serving a warrant in Marstons Mills.

Hundreds of Cape Codders attended a candlelight vigil outside the Yarmouth Police Headquarters Saturday night. Thousands of police officers are expected to come to Cape Cod for Gannon’s wake and funeral, which are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The suspect in Gannon’s killing, Thomas Latanowich, pleaded not guilty in Barnstable District Court.
