CHATHAM- Work crews in Chatham have announced they will begin construction on the Fish Pier Observation Deck beginning Monday weather permitting.
During the project, workers will begin to unload equipment that will be used to replace the underground fuel storage tanks in the upper parking lot.
Areas affected during construction will include the entire lower lot, the Fish Pier Building, and most of the upper parking area which will all be closed off to the public for safety reasons.
A portion of the upper lot of the south-side will remain open however to provide access to the Wharfinger Building, the upper viewing deck, and area restrooms.
The project is expected to be completed in mid-May, just in time for the summertime tourist season.
