Updated: Route 6 Reopened After Fatal Crash

BREWSTER – Route 6 on the Lower Cape reopened Monday night after a five-hour closure.

The highway was closed in both directions between Harwich and Orleans after a fatal multi-vehicle crash at around 3:15 p.m.

Massachusetts State Police reports indicate a truck that was headed westbound crossed over to the eastbound side and struck a pickup in Brewster.

The pickup operator reportedly died at the scene, identified as Edward Footer of Chatham.

The truck driver, a 24-year-old man from Yarmouth, reportedly had serious injuries and was hospitalized.

The crash remains under investigation.
