PROVINCETOWN – Provincetown’s “Carnival Week” will feature a kickoff event at the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum on Sunday. The ceremony will lead up to the 41st Provincetown Carnival Parade next week.
Sunday’s event will feature the parade’s Grand Marshall David Velasco Bermudez, who was a part of the Stonewall Inn riots in New York City in 1969.
The ceremony will also feature a 100 foot section of the over 1 mile long version of Gilbert Baker’s Rainbow Pride Flag, which was unfurled in Key West in 2003 honoring the 25th anniversary of the flag’s debut.
Sunday’s event will begin at 10 a.m.
