PLYMOUTH – Voters in Plymouth County will have a contested race for sheriff this November.
Two-term incumbent Republican Joseph McDonald has announced his campaign for re-election and held a kickoff event recently at the Indian Pond County Club. Governor Charlie Baker attended the party.
‘This is the best job I know in public safety,” McDonald said. “Accordingly, I have always tried to do the best job I can for the communities of Plymouth county.
McDonald is facing a challenge from Plymouth police Sergeant Scott Vecchi, an 18 year veteran of the force. A Democrat, Vecchi ran unsuccessfully for Plymouth County Commission in 2014.
The winner will be elected to a six-year term.
