BOURNE – The SSV Oliver Hazard Perry, homeported in Newport, RI, recently transited through the Cape Cod Canal this month.
CWN reader Dan Cavanaugh captured the photos. He said the vessel was heading east in the canal and had just cleared the Bourne Bridge.
According to the ship’s website, the Oliver Hazard Perry is the largest civilian Sailing School Vessel in the United States.
It is the first ocean-going full-rigged ship to built in the U.S. in over 100 years. Her accommodations hold 32 people overnight in addition to her 17 professional crew.
