OAK BLUFFS – A summer tradition on Martha’s Vineyard will once again light up the sky Wednesday night.
The 147th Grand Illumination Night takes place at the Camp Ground in Oak Bluffs.
The event, which features the lighting of hundreds of paper lanterns at more than 300 Victorian gingerbread homes, begins at 7:30 p.m. with a concert.
Grand Illumination began in Oak Bluffs over a century ago and was initially intended as a way to mark the visit of the governor.
It’s hosted by the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association.
