BARNSTABLE – Ron Beaty and Mary Pat Flynn were sworn in as Barnstable County Commissioners on Tuesday.
Flynn won re-election and it’s Beaty’s first time in elected office.
Beaty said he’s ready to hit the ground running.
“I think we have a lot of responsibility and a lot of work to do and I look forward to working with my fellow commissioners,” said Beaty.
Beaty said that he and his fellow commissioners will have a list of personal goals and objectives available in the next few weeks.
One of his priorities include working to roll back increases in the Registry of Deeds excise tax.
He also believes that some county services and programs should be merged to save money.
Third year Commissioner Leo Cakounes was chosen as Commissioner Chair, taking over from Flynn.
“It’s been, I believe, a good productive year when you look at the structure of the board and how the board has been operating,” said Cakounes. “I hope to follow in her footsteps on that.”
The Commissioners first meeting is today and begins the budget season.
