NEW YORK – A mahogany speedboat that belonged to President John F. Kennedy has sold for $75,000 at an auction in New York City.
The boat, Restofus, was used by JFK in Hyannis Port. The sale Saturday at Guernsey’s included a wide array of Camelot offerings.
The core of the sale comes from the collections of Lt. Henry Hirschy, who worked at the White House; Jacqueline Kennedy’s personal secretary, Mary Gallagher; and CIA operative Francis Gary Powers.
A flight suit that belonged to Powers sold for $2,750. Powers was a CIA pilot who was arrested after his spy plane was shot down over Soviet airspace in 1960.
