JetBlue Service between Hyannis and New York to begin June 18

jet blue last dayHYANNIS – The daily JetBlue service between JFK Airport in New York and Hyannis will start eight days earlier than it did last year.

Flights between the two airports will begin on June 18 and run through Labor Day.

Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce CEO Wendy Northcross is glad to have the service back again, but she would like to see it expand even more.

“We know last year there was very high demand for the service. That’s why they are back,” she said. “But we would love to see more than one flight a day, more options and we would love to see it year-round.”

The summer program carried more than 12,000 passengers between Hyannis and New York last year, according to JetBlue.

Northcross says the service makes getting to the Cape easier for travelers, including those overseas.

“It makes it easy for the tour operator,” she said. It makes it easier for the third-party entities that are arranging travel for people from other countries.”

“We are thrilled to have JetBlue back this season,” said Barnstable Municipal Airport Manager Roland “Bud” Breault. “People told us they enjoyed the speed and convenience of the flights and the fact they didn’t have to fight traffic congestion on I-95.”

Flights will leave New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport every day at 11:22 a.m., with the plane leaving Hyannis to go back to New York at 1:09 p.m.

The 100-seat Embraer E190 airplane will be used again this year and JetBlue is now accepting flight reservations at www.jetblue.com.
