HYANNIS – The Hyannis Fire District has formally begun the search for a new fire chief following the retirement of Harold Brunelle.
Deputy Dean Melanson formally became the acting chief yesterday, the official last day of Brunelle’s employment.
The former chief used accrued time off in his final two months.
The district has hired a consulting firm and will conduct a nationwide search for Brunelle’s replacement.
They’re hoping to have a new chief in place by the next district meeting this spring.
