George L. “Putt” Morgan, 85

Marstons Mills – George L. “Putt” Morgan, 85, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich. Putt was born to George L. Morgan Sr. and Anna Rose Hesek Morgan in Natick where he grew up with his brothers and best friends: Donald of Dennis, David of Myrtle Beach, SC, and John of Marstons Mills. He quickly rose to athletic fame and has since been inducted into the Natick High School (class of 1951) hall of fame for hockey, football, and baseball. Serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, he was fortunate enough to avoid combat by playing for the Air Force baseball team, where he was able to entertain fans all over the world. After returning home and marrying Barbara A. Carr Morgan — who recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary — Putt settled down in Bellingham where together they raised their five children: George of Yarmouth, Edward of Marstons Mills, Gerald of Newcastle, PA, Carolyn of Marstons Mills, and Leslie of Bellingham. He worked for Boston Edison as a lineman for 33 years, faithfully serving the people of Massachusetts. Putt was an avid golfer and also worked for many years at the New England Country Club in Franklin. He spent his final 12 years on Cape Cod in order to spend every moment with the true joys of his life; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 230 South Main St., Centerville, MA. Putt will be laid to rest 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6th at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne, Massachusetts.
