Former South Vietnamese Naval Officer to Speak at Cape Cod Community College

WEST BARNSTABLE – Former U.S. Army Officer Dave Bushy, and former South Vietnamese naval officer Quoc Pham, will speak at Cape Cod Community College next week to talk about Pham’s harrowing experiences after the Vietnam War.

Bushy’s publication called, “The World Looked Away: Vietnam After the War,” is a true story of Quoc Pham and his family which provides a glimpse of the frightening ordeal that many South Vietnamese experienced when the Vietnam War ended.

Quoc Pham graduated from high school in Vietnam and worked part-time for the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam as a human resource and inventory team supervisor.

In 1967 Quoc attended Phu Tho Maritime Academy, where he trained as a maritime deck officer and captain. He was drafted into the South Vietnamese military in 1970 and then transferred to the South Vietnamese Naval fleet, where he served until early 1975.

The event will take place on Thursday June 7th at 6 p.m., in the Grossman Commons.

Proceeds from books sold at the event will be donated by Bushy to the Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation.
