FALMOUTH – Falmouth Hospital has renamed its conference rooms in memory of the late Dr. E. Langdon Burwell, one of the founding physicians of the hospital.
The conference room will be formally named the E. Langdon Burwell Education and Conference Center at a dedication and reception event at the hospital on November 7.
Dr. Burwell, who was the first Chief of Internal Medicine at Falmouth Hospital, was one of the people who advocated for the idea of a Falmouth Hospital in 1955.
Dr. Burwell also established Falmouth Medical Associates and practiced internal medicine until his retirement in 1990.
He died in 1993.
“It is well known that Falmouth Hospital would not be the institution it is without Dr. Burwell’s tenacity and passion for excellence in community medicine,” said Cape Cod Healthcare CEO and President Michael Lauf.
The refurbished and refreshed space has new lighting, carpeting, wall coverings, tables and chairs and updated AV equipment.
