BREWSTER – One of the Democrats looking to unseat incumbent Brewster Republican State Rep. Tim Whelan is touting the support of a major environmental group.
Steven Leibowitz has been endorsed by the Sierra Club of Massachusetts, who cited his support for measures that reduce fossil fuel usage and other environmental friendly approaches.
“Coming from Cape Cod, one of the region’s most sensitive to climate change in Massachusetts, Steven Leibowitz recognizes the need for clean water, improved public transportation, and reducing fossil fuel usage,” said David Rudolph, Political Chair of the Sierra Club Massachusetts Chapter. “We encourage voters to support him on September 4, and look forward to working with him in the legislature.”
“One of the issues that cuts across political lines is the need to take care of this special place we live,” Leibowitz said. “I’m honored to have the support of the Sierra Club and pledge to be focused on our shared concerns.”
Leibowitz was also endorsed by the Massachusetts Democratic Party last month.
He is running against fellow Democrat Joshua Mason in the September primary. The winner will face Whelan, who is seeking a third term in office in November.
