DENNIS – Around $1200 worth of drugs was seized from two homes in South Dennis during searches this week.
Police say the searches involved the distribution of heroin in the area.
The first occurred Wednesday evening around 5:30 p.m. when police executed a search warrant at 14 Clinton Circle.
As a result of the search a small quantity of heroin along with material used in the packaging for distribution of drugs was found.
One occupant of the residence, 48 year old Donald Kendrick, was arrested and charged with Possession of Class A Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.
He was arraigned in Orleans District Court on Thursday and released on his own recognizance for a pre-trial hearing in Orleans court on February 17.
This morning around 8:20 a.m. officers executed a search warrant at 49 Davidson Ave. bottom floor apartment.
The search of the residence turned up more than 5 grams of heroin and numerous illegally possessed medications including Adderall, Lithium and Clonidine.
As a result both occupants of the residence were arrested.
They are identified as 32 year old Colleen Marhefka, and 26 year old Christopher Viera.
Marhefka is being charged with Distribution of Class A Controlled Substance – Heroin,Possession of a Class B Controlled Substance – Adderall and 4 counts of Possession of Class E Controlled Substances.
Viera was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class A Controlled Substance –Heroin and a Warrant for Failure to Pay Fines related to a previous Operating after Suspension incident.
The total street value of the drugs seized for both searches is estimated at $1,200.
During the Search of the Davidson Ave. apartment officers located and seized $350 in cash as well as drug packaging material along with eight used Naloxone (Narcan) containers and over 100 used syringes.
Marhefka admitted to having dispensed the Naloxone to heroin users who had overdosed at her residence.
Two additional unused Naloxone kits were also located in the apartment.
Both Marhefka and Viera were arraigned in Orleans District Court today.
