SOUTH YARMOUTH – The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Office of Public School Monitoring will conduct a comprehensive review of Dennis-Yarmouth schools in May.
The Tiered Focused Monitoring Review is completed in each school district every three years to monitor compliance with federal and state special education and civil rights regulations.
Areas of review related to special education include outreach, professional licensure, special education facilities, and program evaluation. Civil rights review areas include bullying, student discipline, physical restraint, and equal access to school programs for all students.
The review will be conducted during the week of May 6.
Along with the onsite visit, the review will include parent outreach.
All parents of students with disabilities will be sent an online survey that focuses on key areas of their child’s special education program.
Survey results will contribute to the development of a final report.
The report will be provided to the school district within about 60 days of the completion of the onsite review.
