Air Pollution Scientist Bringing Climate Action Tour to the Cape

HARWICH – “On the Road to Climate Change” arrives on Cape Cod this week for presentations in three Cape towns.

The 11-week educational climate advocacy tour is organized by air pollution scientist Shahir Masri and educator Athina Simolaris and will cross 35 states.

They plan to interview residents to understand what aspects of climate change matter most to them and at the end of the tour, they’ll publish the data collected to help develop strategies of climate communication.

“This whole project is designed to try to get us on a path towards climate solutions and basically mobilize the public to solutions and bring awareness so that we can all advocate for the solutions and be advocates for a better future,” said Masri.

The presentations will be held on Friday at the Harwich Community Center from 2-3pm, at RISE for Climate, Jobs & Justice in Falmouth on Saturday from 9:30-10:30am and at Cape Space on Saturday from 6:30-8pm.

“The goal is to really interconnect people from around the country who have been seeing these climate impacts so that we can all kind of have a greater sense of the climate story as it relates to the United States,” said Masri.
