AAAS Recognizes Efforts for Herring River Wetland Restoration

HYANNIS–The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has recognized efforts made to restore the wetlands of the Herring River in their “How We Respond” report.

Specifically, it details how the restoration of the wetlands helps reduce methane emissions. The AAAS also applauded storm surge and sea level rise preparation in the Herring River area.

The “How We Respond” report highlights how local governments, nonprofits, and businesses demonstrate action to combat climate change at the community level throughout the country. The report offers solutions and tactics that other communities may be able to utilize.
