WEST BARNSTABLE – More than 70 performers, exhibitors, vendors, community organizations, as well as a number of food trucks will highlight the 16th annual Multicultural Festival, taking place on the campus of Cape Cod Community College.
The free event has grown significantly during its 16-year run, and for this reason, organizers decided to move it from early March to the first Saturday in May.
“Moving it to May 7, on a Saturday, has truly allowed us to expand the festival and I think truly it’s going to be something that really will anchor this into something brand new,” college spokesman Michael Gross said.
Along with performances, displays and an eclectic array of food trucks to dazzle participants of all ages, there will be plenty of activities for children including face painting, and a souvenir passport that children can get stamped to show the different countries and cultures visited.
While there are individual cultural festivals peppered throughout the calendar year, the Cape Cod Community College event is special in that it brings all these individual festivals into a singular event.
“If you come one place, at one time, in one day, you get a sense of everything that surrounds us,” Gross said.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday May 7.
