Cape Cod Bag Co. opened their brand new studio/shop in Brewster and CapeCod.com stopped by to check it out. Up until now, Marci Tyldesley, made bags and pouches in her home and sold them online and at craft fairs. After purchasing a home with an attached studio space, she is now open to the public. The studio allows people to not only see and purchase her creations but also get an insight into how she works.

Cape Cod Bag Co features a mix of nautical and Cape centric pieces that include bags of all sizes and framed canvas prints. Marci began sewing at a young age but it was only a few years ago that she started to sell her creations. She does all the sewing and the screen printing herself.

The room is filled with light and all the tools to make bags. Marci says in the short time they’ve been open, visitors have loved seeing how the process comes to together. “I have all my fabric over here and more over here. It’s great because people can go through it and I’ll make them something custom.” She’s done several custom orders and is always happy to tweak things so they fit the customer’s style. “I had a woman come in who’d just bought a house in West Barnstable she loved this bag but it says Brewster. So I’m going to make her a bag with West Barnstable just for her,” said Marci.

Before having the studio, Marci sold online and at craft fairs around the Cape. Having the studio is allowing her to meet her customers who only previously followed her online. “It was really great. The first weekend someone came by and said Oh we’ve been following you on Facebook we love your stuff we were so excited.  It’s just really great to get to meet them all,” said Marci.

Stop by the studio on 564 Rt 6a in Brewster open Friday – Sunday 11am-5pm or visit online at their website.
