YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police report that Retired YPD K9 Officer and devoted K9 Trainer Peter McClelland reports that K9 Nero had a great visit with his Veterinarian yesterday in Bourne and all is going very well for our beloved K9 partner K9 Nero.
K9 Nero continues to heal and get stronger as he recovers from his partner being tragically murdered and him being shot in the line of duty on Thursday April 12, 2018.
K9 Nero’s Veterinarian is allowing Nero to run, swim, and play ball!
K9 Nero is not fully recovered and will continue to live with Peter McClelland for at least the next 30 to 60 days as he recuperates and the Yarmouth Police Department will maintain close contact as he progresses and we make our decisions on what his next steps will be.
K9 Nero is not available to meet with the media or his legions of fans around the world today but we will keep everyone posted as he continues to make his amazing comeback.
The men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department and citizens of Yarmouth appreciate everyone ongoing love and support.
Meanwhile, YPD in partnership with the Yarmouth Police Foundation is proud to announce the purchase of the K9 Storm Intruder Camera System for the Yarmouth Police Department.
This State-of-the-Art Camera system was purchased completely by citizens all over Cape Cod and across the nation who contributed to this cause after hearing of the murder of Sergeant Sean M. Gannon and the shooting of his police canine partner K9 Nero.
The system has arrived and we would like to present it to the public and the media here at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters on Monday, June 11, at 2 PM.
The men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department and K9 Nero—K9 Satu—and K9 Gauge deeply appreciate this outpouring of support that will help keep us safer as we do our jobs here in Yarmouth and all over Cape Cod.
Please join us at 2 PM on Monday, June 11, 2018 here at YPD Headquarters.
