YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police have announced that their School Resource Officers will now be in full uniform each day.
They will also have access to long weapons which can match and overcome the weapons used in the most recent school shootings, including this month’s deadly attack in Florida.
Fully armed Resource Officers have been deployed in Yarmouth schools for the past 31 years.
In addition to the permanently assigned Resource Officer, the department will also continue to have uniformed police presence by members of their Patrol Force at all Yarmouth Schools at several times a day on a daily basis when officers are available.
That practice has been in place the town of Yarmouth for the past 5 years since the mass murder at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut.
