JOINT BASE CAPE COD – Joint Base Cape Cod Firefighters and firefighters from the Upper Cape and Plymouth County and the Mass State DCR Forest Fire Control continued to work Sunday to contain the large brush fire within the affected roads. Crews can not go off the road because of possible unexploded arterial shells in the old impact range.
On Sunday the State Crews lit back fires in several areas to keep the fire from jumping the roads. Several helicopters from the Mass State Police and the Army at Joint Base Cape Cod dropped water all day in areas that firefighters could not get to. Officials hope the blaze which has scorched an estimated 100 to 150 acres will be contained by the end of the day.
