WEST YARMOUTH – According to Yarmouth Police, on Wednesday, July 8, the Department began an investigation based on information reporting prostitution, drugs and weapons in a room at the Town and Country Motel on Route 28 in West Yarmouth.
On Thursday, July 9, at approximately 10:48 p.m. Yarmouth Police Department detectives, members of the Proactive Anti-Crime Unit, and Patrol Force confirmed the information and an arrest was made of the 21-year-old prostitute—Theresa Copello of Londonderry, New Hampshire (photo top left)—when she propositioned an undercover Yarmouth police officer.
During the follow up investigation, the person who rented the room—Chisten Cherry, 31, (top middle) of Chelsea, Massachusetts—arrived shortly after Copello’s arrest and police officers discovered an illegal spring-assisted knife in his possession. He was placed under arrest. Another female—Metraca Barry, 23, (top right) of Manchester, New Hampshire—who was with Copello and Cherry, was found to have drugs and a loaded handgun (photo at right). She was placed under arrest as well.
Police officers also seized a digital scale and sandwich baggies as well as approximately $305 in US currency, several cell phones, six grams of pressed heroin in a corner-cut bag, two grams of a tan powdered heroin, several grams of marijuana, and three suboxone strips.
All three subjects were arraigned in the Barnstable District Court on Friday and the investigation is ongoing.
Cherry—who is a reported CRIPS gang member—is currently being held on $10,000 bail in the Barnstable County Correctional Facility in Bourne.
