Updated: Driver cited after elderly edestrian struck and seriously injured in Falmouth

FALMOUTH – A pedestrian was reportedly struck by a car in Falmouth around 5:15 PM Tuesday evening. The crash happened on Nathan Ellis Highway (Route 151) in front of Bucatino Restaurant. MedFlight was not available due to weather so the victim was rushed to Falmouth Hospital with injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening. The incident is under investigation by Falmouth Police.

Update: Falmouth Police report tht an East Falmouth man was injured Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a car while crossing Route 151.

Police and fire personnel responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Rt. 151 and Rt. 28A in North Falmouth at 5:16 pm.

The 88-year-old man was treated by Falmouth Fire & Rescue medics, and then taken by ambulance to Falmouth Hospital. He was later transferred by ambulance to a Boston area hospital.

The driver of the car, a 74-year-old Falmouth man, remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigators.

An investigation revealed that the pedestrian was in the crosswalk at the time of the crash.

A citation was issued to the driver for a crosswalk violation as a result of the crash.
