UPDATED: Outside fire spreads to house in Dennis, crews respond to 2nd house fire as well

DENNIS – The Dennis Fire Department had a busy July 4th evening extinguishing two structure fires. The first was reported at 130 Gages Way South Dennis at 5:27 PM. The occupant of the home was attempting solder a broken pipe in his outdoor shower. Fire quickly spread up the rear of the building and into the attic. Dennis Police Officers arrived first an attempted to extinguish the fire with a garden hose. When firefighters arrived they quickly put the fire out in the attic in 15 minutes. Brewster Fire assisted at the scene.

Meanwhile, At 8:43 PM a second reported fire at 32 Salt Works Road in East Dennis. When firefighters arrived they found a power line issue to the house had started a fire in an outside wall and roof. The power to the building was cut an Eversource crew and the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes after sections of the roof and wall was cut open. Brewster firefighters again assisted at the scene.
