New details: One injured after boat hits jetty at entrance to Sesuit Harbor in Dennis

DENNIS – One person was injured after a vessel reportedly struck the jetty at the entrance to Sesuit Harbor around 7:30 PM Saturday evening. There were four people on board who were transferred to the fire boat and brought into the harbor. One person was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with unknown injuries. Further details were not immediately available.

Statement from Dennis Fire: Four people returning from an evening on the water ran into trouble as their 20 ft boat slammed into the west jetty at Sesuit Harbor at 7:38 Saturday night.

Dennis Fire, Dennis Police Dennis Harbormaster and United States Coast Guard responded to the call for help.

The Dennis Fire department launched a rescue boat and retrieved the victims off their damaged boat. The victims were brought to an awaiting ambulance and checked for injuries. The operator and owner of the boat suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and transported to Cape Cod Hospital by Dennis ambulance.

The Dennis Harbormaster towed in and secured the damaged vessel and a notification to the State Environmental Police was made per procedure.
