Four new patrol officers hit the streets of Barnstable


BARNSTABLE
– Barnstable Police Chief Paul B. MacDonald is pleased to announce the addition of four new patrol officers to the force. The four officers were sworn in Friday at the Barnstable Police Department after having completed twenty four weeks of recruit officer training at the Plymouth Academy. The officers will begin three months of field training prior to being cleared for solo patrol.

Patrol Officer Jian Barcelo was born in Brazil and immigrated to the United States in 2005, achieving citizenship in 2012. Officer Barcelo is a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard and holds the rank of staff sergeant. Officer Barcelo resides in Hyannis with his wife and son.

Patrol Officer Dennis Reddy is a lifelong resident of Barnstable and a former Barnstable Community Service Officer. Officer Reddy was a squad leader for the 64th Recruit Officer Class at the Academy. Officer Reddy received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Westfield State University. Officer Reddy resides in Hyannis with his girlfriend.

Patrol Officer Cailin White is a lifelong resident of Barnstable. Officer White received the top Physical Fitness Award and the 100% Award for the 64th Recruit Officer Class at the Academy. Officer White resides in Osterville with her husband and four children.

Patrol Officer Wanessa Pizaia (pronounced “Vanessa”) was born in Brazil and immigrated to the United States in 2001, achieving citizenship in 2013. Officer Pizaia is a member of the Cape Cod Young Professionals organization. Officer Pizaia resides in Hyannis with her husband.

Officer Barcelo and Officer Pizaia have the distinct honor of being the first Barnstable Police Officers who are naturalized citizens.
