PROVINCETOWN – Reports were coming in of widespread power outages in Provincetown, Truro and Wellfleet Wednesday morning. Over 10,000 Eversource customers lost service about 9 AM. An Eversource spokesperson told Cape Wide News about 9:30 AM: “We have several crews out working to locate the cause.” It was not immediately clear if the weather was to blame. As of 9:40 AM power had been restored expect for 828 customers in Welflleet.
Shortly after 10 AM, Eversource told CWN: ” A piece of equipment at our substation was damaged. Once we found the cause of the outage, we isolated that portion of our electrical system and remotely switched the power around it, restoring electricity to most of our customers. Now, we’re replacing the equipment and expect to have power restored to all our customers before noon.”
