WEST DENNIS – Dennis and Yarmouth firefighters responded to the report of a structure fire Wednesday about 10 AM at 608 Route 28, the Steamer Trunk, a seasonal business. Dennis Fire reports the owner, Robert Coane was on location at the time and was able to report the fire and escape safely.
First arriving units found smoke showing and mounted an interior attack. Crews had the fire knocked down by 10:30 a.m. and most units were released from the scene by 10:45 a.m.
Route 28 was closed in both directions during the incident.
Dennis Fire officials say the fire started in a crawlspace and is under investigation but it does not appear suspicious.
