Chatham Police arrest man for daytime break-in

teftshanepCHATHAM – Chatham Police report that on Tuesday at approximately 8:27 a.m., they investigated a report of an open door at a residence on Main Street, in South Chatham. A citizen had contacted police to report that the door of the next door neighbor’s house was open and that the residence should be vacant and secure.

Upon arrival CPD Officer Christopher Vardakis searched the property and located a male inside the residence. The male was identified as: Shane P. Teft , 28,  of Hyannis (right).

Mr. Teft was arrested and charged with: Breaking and Entering a Building in the Daytime to Commit a Felony. He was arraigned on that charge in Orleans District Court on November 10.

The Chatham Police Department would like to commend the actions of an alert neighbor, who contacted police when observing suspicious activity.

They encourage all of our residents and business owners to promptly report any activity that may be suspicious.
