Chatham Police announces promotions, recognizes milestones of service

CHATHAMFrom Chatham Police: Chatham Police Department has announced the promotion of two officers to the rank of Sergeant and recognized three department members for milestone years of service.

On Monday, Chief of Police Mark Pawlina promoted Det. Lou Malzone and Ofc. Sean Ryder to the rank of Sergeant. Det. Malzone is a thirteen year member of the police department and Ofc. Sean Ryder is a ten year member of the department. Both Sergeants will assume First Line Supervisory roles in the department effective immediately.

In addition to being a detective in the department, Det. Malzone also represents the department on several multi-jurisdictional law enforcement groups that serve communities all across Cape Cod and the Islands. Ofc. Ryder also represents Chatham PD as a member of the Cape Cod Regional Crash Reconstruction Team.

Both were promoted today at a public ceremony.

Sgt. Ryder was also recognized for his ten years of service today while Disp. Erin Hemeon was also recognized for her ten years of service to the department. Ofc. Joe Amara was recognized for five years of service.
