FALMOUTH – From Falmouth Fire-Rescue: At approximately 9:15 AM Wednesday morning, Engine 21 was dispatched to a fire alarm activation at the Falmouth Inn at 824 Main Street (Route 28). Upon arrival, the crew encountered heavy black smoke on the first and second floor of a large occupied hotel. A full first alarm assignment was requested, followed quickly by a 2nd alarm being struck. Crews advanced an attack line and eventually located the fire in a conference room on the first floor. Additional lines were eventually stretched to the second floor and the fire was knocked down. Fortunately, due to the early warning from the fire alarm system, 10-15 employees and guests were able to self evacuate with no injuries. The FFRD was assisted at the scene and station coverage was provided by the Bourne, Mashpee, Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills, Cotuit, Sandwich and Joint Base Cape COd fire departments. The fire is being investigated by the FFRD, Falmouth Police and the State Fire Marshal’s office. There were no firefighter injuries.
