Update: Victim in fatal Falmouth fire identified

FALMOUTH – The woman who died in an East Falmouth house fire Thursday afternoon has been identified as Kerry Blevins, 43, of Falmouth.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe’s office made the official announcement. The initial investigation, according to O’Keefe’s office, indicates there was nothing suspicious about the blaze.

At about 12:03 pm Thursday, the Falmouth Communications Center received a report of a house fire at 53 Edgewater Drive East in East Falmouth.

Falmouth Fire & Rescue arrived and immediately entered the house. Firefighters found one person inside the home. Bevins was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The incident is being investigated by the Falmouth Police Dept., Falmouth Fire & Rescue Dept., Mass State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Mass State Police Detective’s Unit assigned to the Cape & Island’s District Attorney’s Office.

The State Fire Marshal said Thursday’s fatality was the 25th fire-related death in the state since the beginning of the year.
