YARMOUTH – Organizers of last weekend’s annual Community Cleanup Day in Yarmouth are calling the event a success.
Cleanup Day drew 75 volunteers who worked over 200 hours and collected over 100 bags of trash.
The event which was a collaboration between many town departments saw crews clean areas including Buck Island Road, Routes 28 and 6A and various parks and beaches.
“The commitment and enthusiasm I saw from this group of volunteers was astounding,” said Ashley Cormier, the marketing director for the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce. “It was a pleasure to see the pride they all have for their town.”
Trash continued to come in for several hours after the cleanup finished.
Rain pushed the Cleanup Day from Saturday to Sunday.
