EASTON – The Red Raider track and field teams were quite busy over the weekend, with both boys’ and girls’ teams staging several superlative performances at a pair of invitational meets.
As the MSTCA Freshman-Sophomore Invitational meet held at Oliver Ames Regional High School, Barnstable sophomore Cameron Faszewski knocked 0:23 seconds off his career personal best in the two-mile race with a time of 11:03 and placed 2nd in his heat. Sophomore Chris Fawcett continued to improve in the long jump this season by jumping 18’0.25″ and placing 17th overall in the field of 43 participants. Freshman Zach Morgan threw a personal best in the discus with a throw of 88’10” and placed 19th overall. Morgan was able to follow-up his great performance in the discus with a fantastic showing in the shot-put with a throw of 34’0.5″. Sophomore Lucas Lanzo continued to improve as well as he marked a time of 25.65 in the 200m race and also competed in the 400m with a time of 57.5.
At the 6th Annual Sunset Track & Field Invitational held at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech High School this weekend, Barnstable senior Malique Dickerson-Pells won the triple jump with a meet record of 43′ 0.5″ which has also placed him as the #1 triple jumper in the state on the top 50 performance list on milesplit.com. Dickerson-Pells also placed second in the long jump with a personal best of 20’10.5″. Junior Nick Johnson secured a medal in the shot-put with a throw of 43’8″, securing 6th place.
Barntstable senior Morgan Richard was stellar in the triple jump as well as she came away with the win with her jump of 33’7.25″ at the 6th Annual Sunset Track & Field Invitational. Richard was also able to medal in the long jump with her 4th place jump of 16’8.5″ and teammate Shaelagh Murphy took home a third place medal in the discus with her throw of 99’9″.
In the 6th Annual Sunset Track & Field Invitational running events, Red Raider junior Ray Todoroff ran a personal best of 4:43 in the mile and narrowly missed the Division 1 state qualifying time but his performance was good enough for 6th place overall and also places him as #40 on the top 50 performance list for the mile on milesplit.com.
Senior Chris Lovett was fantastic in the 800 running a personal best of 2:09 and placing 9th overall in the field of 37. The Barnstable 4×400 relay team which consisted of Chris Lovett, Junior Tim Decosta, Junior Casey Connor and Junior Ray Todoroff placed 6th overall with a season best time of 3:51.
