Video report: Three people evaluated after reported gas explosion in Dennis Port

DENNIS PORT – An apparent gas explosion was reported at a residential structure in Dennis Port about 7 PM Wednesday. Firefighters were called to area of 70 Depot Street were they were able to determine there was no fire after the blast. Three people in the house escaped and were checked by EMTs with one transported to Cape Cod Hospital for further evaluation. National Grid was called to determine where the leak originated. Streets in the area were blocked off as a precaution. The State Fire Marshal’s office was called as part of the investigation. The house was built on cinder blocks in the 1960’s causing the foundation to blow out. According to a person at the scene, if it had been a regular cement foundation the house may well have have been lifted straight up and been completely destroyed.
