Updated: Overnight crash on Bourne Bridge leads to OUI arrest


BOURNE – An overnight crash on the Bourne Bridge is under investigation. According to reports, it started with a vehicle apparently running out of gas on the bridge. The driver went to get fuel for the vehicle. A Mass State Police trooper responded to the scene. At some point a white Volkswagen reportedly struck the disabled vehicle. At least one person was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Mass State Police tell CWN that at 2:20 AM Saturday, a trooper from the Bourne Barracks went off with a disabled vehicle on the Bourne Bridge southbound. A second vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck the disabled vehicle, pushing it into the MSP cruiser. Both operators suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. The operator of the second vehicle which crossed over the center line was placed under arrest. After treatment at the hospital, James Lewis, 21, of Raynham was transported to the Bourne barracks for booking. He will face charges of:
OUI Liquor, Negligent Operation Of A Motor Vehicle, and Marked Lanes Violation.
